BEFORE YOUR NEW LAWN GOES IN

A watering plan for your Valley Ranch lawn

Work out how you'll care for the grass before installation day. New sod needs water, but you still need to follow your provider's rules and any exceptions it approves.

Watering rules, establishment and aftercare

Confirm the provider and current rules

Check the provider on your water bill, watering days, time restrictions and any active drought measures. Start with Irving resources for Valley Ranch, then confirm they apply to your supply.

Check new-landscape watering before scheduling

Ask your water provider whether extra watering is allowed for your project, whether you need to apply and which conditions you'll need to follow. New sod doesn't get an automatic exemption.

Care for the lawn within the approved conditions

Check the moisture under the sod, watch the roots take hold and use the first-mow checks in our guide. If your watering setup won't support the new lawn, tell us before installation.

LOCAL QUESTIONS

Valley Ranch landscaping questions

Can I hire you just to install sod?

Yes. You can request sod installation on its own. Our minimum is one pallet, covering 450 sq. ft. Include an approximate area and photos if available. Explore sod installation and the estimate calculator.

How much does a new lawn cost?

Starting installed prices are $2.35 per sq. ft. for Bermuda, $2.45 for St. Augustine and $2.55 for Zoysia, before tax. Additional grading, drainage and irrigation are separate. Your written estimate confirms preparation, site conditions and the final scope.

How quickly can you install my sod?

The work and schedule depend on area, removal, preparation, access, weather and availability. Share your preferred timeframe and we’ll discuss a realistic installation date. The lawn will still need care while the grass takes root afterward.

Which grass works best in a shaded yard?

That depends on the amount of light, use and site conditions. All lawn grasses need sufficient light; no grass choice solves every heavily shaded area. Use our grass comparison guide to narrow the options.

Can I combine sod with drainage or stone borders?

Yes. Discuss drainage, irrigation and borders at the start so the work can be sequenced before the new lawn is installed.

Do you offer more than lawn installation?

Yes. Explore outdoor living, hardscaping, fencing, lighting and tree services. The service directory above includes our current offering.

Do you serve my part of Valley Ranch?

Yes. Send your Valley Ranch property address in Irving so we can confirm access, project work and schedule. We serve the neighborhood, not only properties shown in our project gallery.

Do I need approval before changing my landscaping?

The Valley Ranch Association identifies landscaping among exterior changes that require ARC approval. Check your association’s requirements for the specific work. Association approval and any applicable city permits are separate matters; confirm both before work starts. See the association’s guidance.
